Frequently Asked Questions
We are often asked several questions about our system. Here are some of those questions that you may have.
What are the Age Limits?
We welcome contestants of all ages; Infants to Seniors! We have the ability to combine and divide age divisions based on competition needs. With enough contestants, we can create new divisions.
What level of competitors does Great Lakes American Miss host?
Great Lakes American MIss is a beginner level, Natural to Semi-Glitz pageant system. This means that we WANT to be your beginning... your first step in on your pageantry journey. Every event is an opportunity to learn, whether it be a new skill in turns, a new pose, a fine detail that you can include in your routines from now on. With every pageant, you come one step closer to achieving your ultimate goal in a National Scholarship system or public speaking. The door is open for your dream!
Do you require Non-Compete Agreements?
Great Lakes American Miss is a NO-NON-COMPETE-CLAUSE system. This means that you are free to compete in other systems. If you are a title holder with another system, be sure to check with the Director if you are permitted to compete with GLAM. We are NOT responsible for other system non-compete clauses. As a titleholder, it is your responsibility.
We hold no obligations to our winners only that you attend and compete at the 2026 National Pageant on Oct 24, 2026 in Erie, PA as all Supreme Titleholders receive 100% entry fee paid. Appointed Titleholders receive 50% of the entry fee paid (See Appointed Titleholder section of this website).
Please submit a photo of you in sash and crown at any appearance of local event and we will post it in our "News and Royalty" page! The best referrals come from examples! So, as a GLAM Girl, it is your responsibility to maintain appropriate appearance and behaviors while in sash and crown. You represent ALL GLAM Girls, so represent your sisterhood to the very best of your ability.
Why did you start Great Lakes American Miss?
I was once a competitor and I loved every moment! As a grandmother of three girls, I wanted to give them the opportunity to explore pageantry and discovered that, other than local fair queens, pageants in Erie County are virtually non-existent. We have travelled to out of state and to other regions of PA for pageants and I decided that it was time to offer the experience to Erie County and the surrounding areas!
In my own pageant experience, I learned to speak in public and developed interview skills. But, most importantly, I learned that I have a voice... and my voice matters! Social issues are plentiful today and there is no shortage of platforms to represent by bringing awareness and fund raising efforts. Pageantry opened doors to experiences that I might not have ever had and for that, I am grateful.
